PERSONALITY FEATURE: The Guy Who Sets the Crowd on Fire

God is good to me; He is the center of my life that is why I am experiencing good things now. I showed my talent that I believe appropriate and I am happy because by this, I shared what God has given to me. This is how thankful Jayson Aro is, an Information Technology student of Cagayan de Oro College-PHINMA (COC-PHINMA).

Jayson is the champion of the most entertaining and fascinating show during the celebration of the 64th Foundation Day of COC-PHINMA, the Show Me What You’ve Got: A COC Talent Show. Among the 14 acts of the talent show, only Jayson thrilled the audience as he transformed into El Fuego Fire Dancer, a Poi dancer. Poi Dancing is a type of dance which is common in Hawaii, using a small ball of woven flax, swung on string in Maori songs and dances.

Jayson, discovered his talent in dancing when he was still 16. At the age of 20, due to the influence of media and internet, he tried a new and enthralling type of dance-the Poi Dancing. He rarely practices Poi dancing because he gives priority to his studies but when he joins contests, it’s more or less two (2) weeks before the contest, and he practices just to master the skills, learn new techniques and ready to grab the bacon.

Fortunately, his parents are very supportive to his studies and in Poi dancing. During his endeavor in Poi dancing, he joined several contests, in the City, he won 2nd place together with his group. He usually dances with a group to make it more thrilling and exhilarating. Jayson, together with his team joined a national contest, somewhere in the beautiful and relaxing place in Island Garden, City of Samal. Luckily, the strong faith of the team and their extraordinary skills in Poi dancing brought them up to the Championship as they brought home the bacon.

By his sheer determination to share and inspire his fellow COCeans, he joined the contest and with great fortitude, he won, planting his feet on the ground and willing to share his skills to others.

He will first prioritize his studies, talent, family and God as his center of everything. If opportunities will knock on his door, he is firm with his stands and principles that if the opportunity is for him, it will knock again and again; he will finish his studies first. “God has a good plan for me”.

10 Qualities of a Good Student

A good student? It's not just the student who tried his/her best to get a perfect score or the one who tried to get an A grade. It is the student who gets a B or C grade yet willing to learn, unlearn and relearn. A student that studies to make himself better, not boasting of his intellectual capacity but how he interacts with the people surrounds him/her. To better understand what a good student is, let's have the 10 qualities.

1. Self-discipline is the utmost important deed of a good student. Self Discipline means that they think about their words and actions and then make choices that are right for themselves and for others. Those with self discipline accept that things do not always go their way. In other words, this student will finish their work before they play.

2. Perseverance can be found in good students. They will work hard and not give up when it gets tough. They stick to something until it is finished. In other words, They don't give up, they keep trying.

3. Responsibility is always present in good students. They are dependable and make good choices. They take care of things that belong to them and show more responsibility when they take care of themselves and what they do.

4. Attitude. a good student possesses the ability and willingness to learn new subjects even the subjects are not interesting.

5. Perceptiveness this is how well a student can interpret and perceive meanings from a conversation greatly determines the quality of a good. A good student always perceives right meaning from conversations, but an average student often misunderstands the original thoughts of a speaker or writer and derives a wrong conclusion.

6. Fairness is another trait present in good students. They will take turns, share and listen to what other say. They take only their share and play by the rules.

7. Honesty is found in good students. They are truthful and sincere. They will do their own work and return borrowed items. They are the ones that will make sure that their score is correct even if it means that they get more wrong.

8. Integrity is found in good students. They make choices that help them be the best they can be. They do what they think is right and work at doing their best.

9. Teamwork should also be in a good student. To work good in a team and having good rapport to others.

10. Trustworthiness is a must. These students can be counted on to do the right thing even if an adult is not present. They return borrowed items and do what they say they'll do.

These qualities are not really true to all since we do have different perceptions in looking for a good student.

OPINION COLUMN

Piolo Tagged Gay

After the break-up with KC Concepcion, the rumor was noisy again since it was started way back then. KC Concepcion’s interview was all implied that may lead to the sexuality of Piolo.

Issues were spread way before KC-Piolo story. It was when party hoppers saw Sam and Papa P kissing each other in a corner of a particular bar. Is it really Papa P or Sam is the hermaphrodite?

Above all this, Piolo stays strong and still concentrating on his career. Now, he is still in ASAP and continuing making his name and protecting his reputation as a hunk in show business.

A LETTER FROM GOD

Hi,
As you got up this morning,
I watched you and hoped you would talk to me, even if it was just a few words,
asking my opinion or thanking me for
something good that happened in your life yesterday - but I noticed you were too busy trying to find the right outfit to put on and wear to work.

I waited again.
When you ran around the house getting ready. I knew there would be a few minutes for you to stop and say hello,
but you were too busy. At one point you had to wait fifteen minutes with nothing to do except sit in a chair. Then I saw you spring to your feet. I thought you wanted to talk to me but you ran to the phone and called a friend to get the latest gossip.

I watched as you went to work and I waited patiently all day long. With all your activities I guess you were too busy
to say anything to me. I noticed that before lunch you looked around, maybe you felt embarrassed to talk to me, that is why you didn't bow your head. You glanced three or four tables over and you noticed some of your friends talking to me briefly before they ate, but you didn't. That's okay. There is still more time left, and I have hope that you will talk to me... yet you went home
and it seems as if you had lots of things to do.

After a few of them were done you turned on the TV, I don't know if you like TV or not, just about anything goes there
and you spent a lot of time each day
in front of it, not thinking about anything -
just enjoying the show.

I waited patiently again as you watched the TV and ate your meal... but again you didn't talk to me. Bedtime - I guess you felt too tired. After you said goodnight to your family you plopped into bed and fell asleep in no time.

That's okay because you may not realize
that I am always there for you. I've got patience more than you will ever know.
I even want to teach you how to be patient with others as well. I love you so much
that I wait every day for a nod, prayer or thought or a thankful part of your heart.
It is hard to have a one-sided conversation.

Well you are getting up again and once again I will wait with nothing but love for you hoping that today you will give me some time.

Have a nice day!

Your friend,

GOD

P.S. Do you have enough time to send this to another person?

" Call unto me and I will Answer thee"

In this chaotic life living in a perfectly imperfect world, obstacles, challenges, trials and such come in our way through our journey of life. These things are phenomenal and I believe that they are blessings in disguise. It abetted us to be more mature in life, molding our beings to be fitted in the real world. Human, as a person has its own abilities on how to face these challenges. However, there comes a time that we can never handle it. It’s not that we are unable to handle it, but pressure and other factors build up and we merely say, I can’t do it anymore.
Every person has its own capacities and capabilities that impede us in finding a solution. That’s the time we look above and pray. Prayer is the communication from us to Jesus. Jesus is so powerful that even before you pray, He already knows what’s on your mind. Powerful enough to do impossible things possible if you have a strong faith in Him. Even if how busy you are in your daily routines and works, He is always there watching you and waiting for you to talk to talk to Him.
In every complicated situation, we never hesitated to call Him directly. But how about in times of success and victories? Don’t be timid in praying for Him and ask, I’m pretty sure, He will answer you.
